Greenville's Michelin Year, Seen From a Downtown Dinner Table

October 22, 2026

The first Michelin Guide American South selection was revealed on Nov. 3, 2025, at the Peace Concert Hall in downtown Greenville. Scoundrel came away with the city's first star. The guide scheduled its second American South ceremony for the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 21, at The Pinnacle in Nashville. By that date, the Greenville restaurant most openly built with the guide in mind had been open for one month.

The 2025 list showed Greenville's dining rooms as they were that fall. Since then, the newest serious table on the Reedy has been designed with the inspectors in mind. Getting a seat at any of these restaurants mostly comes down to two things: which booking system each one uses, and which nights it actually serves dinner.

What the First List Said About Greenville

The guide's Greenville page lists five restaurants for the city and its surroundings. There's one star, the rest are Recommended, and none got a Bib Gourmand.

Restaurant 2025 distinction Cuisine and price, per the guide Where
Scoundrel One Michelin Star French, $$$ 18 N. Main St.
Jianna Recommended Italian, $$$ 600 S. Main St., second floor
The Anchorage Recommended American, $$$ Greenville
Soby's Recommended American, $$ 207 S. Main St.
Topsoil Restaurant Recommended Not listed here Travelers Rest

The Bib Gourmand category recognizes good value. In South Carolina, those picks went to Charleston restaurants. The list includes the Charleston location of Lewis Barbecue but not its Greenville branch, as the Greenville Journal's coverage of the ceremony noted. Greenville's recognition sat at the higher end of the price range, and the entries with posted downtown addresses all share one street. Scoundrel, Jianna and Soby's are all on Main Street.

The guide describes Scoundrel as Chef and owner Joe Cash's upscale French bistro, with a full-service bar. When the guide arrived, Greenville already had a standard for refined dining. Enlō is the first restaurant to open since then that set out to meet it.

Enlō Opened After the List Was Written

The Post and Courier reported that Enlō officially opened Sept. 22, 2026, with five- and eight-course menus and an open kitchen. The restaurant comes from Chef Nico Abello and Carl Sobocinski, the Table 301 restaurateur behind Soby's, The Jones Oyster Co. and The Nose Dive.

The Post and Courier's earlier report says that when the pair announced Enlō in 2025, they wanted to give Greenville something "worthy of a Michelin star." The chef has done this before. According to the same report, Abello was born outside Paris and trained in Michelin-starred kitchens in France and New York. In 2016 he opened L'Appart in New York as executive chef, and it earned a star within six months. He came to Greenville in 2021 to work at the Grand Bohemian Lodge and joined Table 301 in 2022.

The room is in Riverplace at 180 Riverplace. It seats 52 and has floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Reedy River. The tasting menus change monthly. The first one included sweet potato brioche with cultured butter, lamb with huckleberry and salsify, and preserved apricot with fig leaf and coconut. GVLtoday's pre-opening visit found some playful touches too: popcorn in a pasta course, a Dippin' Dots palate cleanser and champagne Jell-O.

The format sets it apart downtown. Enlō's posted prices are $125 per person for five courses and $175 for eight, with wine and non-alcoholic pairings priced separately. Soby's and Jianna both post à la carte menus. The Anchorage is the other tasting option in this group. Its dinner menu offers a four-course "Appropriately Portioned Tasting" at $90 per person, the whole table has to take part, and a wine pairing adds $65 per person.

Enlō opened eleven months after the first selection. Each edition is the work of the guide's anonymous inspectors, so once the Oct. 21 ceremony is over, the guide's Greenville page is the place to see how the 2026 selection covers Greenville.

Where Each Table Books

Each of these four restaurants handles reservations its own way, and the details are on their own websites.

Restaurant How to book Details posted on its site
Scoundrel Resy Resy is the restaurant's preferred route to a table
Enlō SevenRooms Reservations release one month ahead, on the first of the month
Jianna Resy or phone Bar seating is first come, first served, with the full menu
Soby's OpenTable or phone, 864.232.7007 Phones are answered from 9 a.m. through the end of evening service

Scoundrel's contact page points diners to Resy as the best way to secure a table. Jianna's bar is the only listed walk-in option among these restaurants, and it serves the same menu as the dining room. Enlō is the only one that posts a fixed release schedule. A table there depends on the calendar more than on refreshing an app.

The Week Has Gaps

Posted hours narrow things further, especially early in the week.

  • Monday: Soby's is the only one of these four that serves dinner, from 5 to 9 p.m. Scoundrel and Jianna are closed, and Enlō serves Tuesday through Saturday only.
  • Tuesday through Thursday: Scoundrel serves 5 to 9 p.m. Enlō takes reservations from 5 to 9 p.m. Jianna's last seating is 9 p.m.
  • Friday and Saturday: Scoundrel and Soby's both serve until 10 p.m., and Jianna's last seating moves to 9:30 p.m.
  • Weekend daytime: Jianna serves lunch Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m., with a last seating at 2 p.m. Soby's serves brunch Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Sunday evening: Jianna opens at 5 p.m. and Soby's at 4:30 p.m. Scoundrel and Enlō are closed.

For out-of-town guests on a Sunday evening, the choice is Soby's on South Main or Jianna at 600 S. Main. On a Monday, Soby's is the one. Planning a tasting menu at Enlō means picking a night from Tuesday through Saturday.

Dates on the Downtown Dining Calendar

The next few weeks have a few dates worth marking.

  1. Wednesday, Oct. 21: The 2026 American South ceremony is scheduled for the evening at The Pinnacle in Nashville. The guide says it plans to hold its annual ceremony in a different city each year.
  2. Through November: Enlō's reservation page says it is taking bookings through the end of November 2026.
  3. Sunday, Nov. 1: Enlō releases December 2026 reservations, which cover the holiday dinners and year-end celebrations of the season.
  4. Tuesday, Nov. 3: One year since Greenville hosted the first American South ceremony at the Peace Concert Hall.

When the guide's International Director, Gwendal Poullennec, announced Nashville as the 2026 host city, he called the previous year "a momentous year for the American South," in remarks published by the Michelin Guide. Greenville marks the anniversary of that first ceremony two weeks after the second one. The newest room on the Reedy, the starred bistro on North Main and the Recommended tables on South Main are all inside the same downtown core.

Living a short walk from Main Street or Riverplace means a dinner like this can be a weeknight decision rather than a trip. If the blocks around these tables have you thinking about a home within walking distance, Tom Marchant would be glad to talk through which streets put you closest to them. Let's Connect.
